Priorities

Stone Soup is a local cartoon. This is a direct commentary regarding the state of Eugene/Springfield's public education system. Edison Elementary, just down the street from UO President Frohnmayer's house (and just blocks from campus), is in a state of near-crisis financially and sends out letters asking for donations from residents of the neighborhood. Meanwhile, our plasma-screen-laden locker room for our football team DOES contain air conditioned lockers with internet access. A friend of mine "on the inside" informs me that the internet connections are almost never used but are checked and maintenanced regularly.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a football fan and on one hand I figure... "more power to 'em". I wish every student could have the same perks... spoil 'em rotten!
If only we would be as generous with our friends and neighbors as we are with our jocks.
