Mac vs. PC

As an avid PC promoter for years and years with the outcome of OSX I was easiy swayed to the light side of the foce and am now strongly pro-Mac. I know I'm behind the times, and I don't have cable, so I just discovered these Mac/PC videos on Apple's website. They're really clever and a number of them made me laugh out loud.

Follow this link to view them and... enjoy!

(I recomment Meant for Work among others... "I'm crying myself to sleep mode...")

My Niece the Photog!

Holl listening to some tunes

While sitting around chatting with the inlaws tonight the topic of a recent trip (August 06) to Seattle came up and someone mentioned the fact that my Niece posted some travel-pix to flickr.com so I decide to go check them out. After a brief perusal of Ava's account I must conclude that she has a natural talent for photography. Wow! I sincerely hope that Ava's future endeavors include photography and/or photojournalism.

Bravo Ava!

Katherine Cathey

I stumbled across this image when researching pbwiki.com. When I first spotted this image on Lee J. Pappas site I thought it was some sort of photo illustration representing America's apathy toward the war in Iraq. I thought that it was the image of someone vegging out in front of a TV oblivious of what is taking place in the world around them. Read on to learn more about this evocative image.

The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. "I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it," she said. "I think that's what he would have wanted."

Although this image isn't quite illustrating what I first imagined, Ms. Cathey does seem terribly alone... it is a haunting and beautiful image.

I've discovered a lot more about Katherine Cathey since I made my initial post. This is an extremely bittersweet story and I felt obligated to share it. Please read on:
